Why we built JOYET
More and more Nigerians are paid in crypto, but life is still paid in Naira. JOYET exists to close that gap.
More and more Nigerians hold crypto. Freelancers are paid in USDT. Remote workers get their salary in stablecoins. Some people simply keep savings in dollars-on-a-blockchain because it feels safer than holding Naira.
But rent, light, data and school fees are still paid in Naira.
The gap
Turning crypto into everyday spending has always meant too many steps:
- find a P2P buyer and hope they're honest,
- wait for the Naira to land in your bank,
- then open another app to actually pay for something.
Every step costs time. Some cost money. A few end in scams.
We kept asking a simple question: why can't I just pay my electricity bill with the USDT I already have?
What we built
JOYET is one app where you can:
- deposit crypto (USDT, USDC, BTC or ETH) and have it convert to Naira,
- pay everyday bills: electricity, airtime, data, cable TV and exam PINs,
- send money: free and instant to other JOYET users, or to any Nigerian bank,
- chat with friends, and request money in the same conversation.
No P2P. No trading screens. Just spending.
What we care about
- Simple first. If your mum can't use it, we haven't finished.
- Safety by default. PIN and fingerprint on every payment, identity checks with your NIN, and fraud checks on money going out.
- Honest pricing. You see the rate and any fee before you confirm, every time.
- Built for Nigeria. Local billers, Naira everywhere, and support that answers inside the app.
Who we are
JOYET is built in Nigeria by Apaxaa Technologies Ltd. We're a small team, and we read every message. If something is confusing or broken, tell us. That's how the app gets better.
JOYET is launching on Android and iPhone. Join early access on joyet.site and we'll send you the download link first. Questions? Email hello@joyet.site.
